Stuff That's Happening

  • Shop Update

    UPDATE:

Due to the increasing spread of COVID 19 we have closed both our physical shop and online store. We feel this is a necessary step to keep our customers and staff safe.
We want to thank everyone who has shown their support over the past few weeks. It means the world to us.
For those who have purchased Gift Certificates (or for those who would still like to) your credit will be there in full glory when the shop re-opens.
Wherever you are, we hope that you are safe.
Please be hopeful. Please be kind.

  • An Important Message

    Dear Friends,

In light of recent events, Brown and Dickson will be temporarily closing its doors to flatten the curve of potential COVID-19 spread.

We will still be accessible via website and social media, and are considering free delivery of in-stock books and merchandise within London. More details to come.

Gift certificates can be purchased by emailing books [at] brownanddickson.com or by visiting our site's Gift Card page.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

  • Wax Mannequin w Carla White

    Wax Mannequin w Carla White
    February 8 at 8 pm, tix $10.

Carla White will be opening the show. With an intimate performance style, White lets us into her teenage bedroom where Beth Gibbons and Kate Bush make love on her galactic duvet cover.

Our headliner, Wax Mannequin, performs music that veers from scrappy prog oddness and distressed folk to absurdist stadium metal, all with a drunk, dark humour that borders on outright Dadaism. Beneath the unsettling imagery and musical left turns there is a steady questioning of life’s inherent strangeness and his own neuro-divergent experience.

  • Murder & Music

    Murder & Music

    Murder and Music

February 1 at 8 pm. $10 tickets. Join us for a presentation of The Man with the Black Valise with author John Goddard followed by musical performance by Willow Switch.

Dig into the grisly details of the 19th century murder of Jessie Keith with author John Goddard. Then indulge your dark soul with the haunting music of Willow Switch. There will be a Q&A with the author, as well as a book signing. As usual, proceeds go to the performers.
