Originally written by King when he was 16 years old, this is the first appearance of this short story in print. He had submitted it to the same magazine as a teenager, and was rejected. Years later, he found it, reworked it, and submitted it again. It was accepted, of course. Carrie was released two years earlier in 1976. A nice bit of comeuppance for one of our favourite authors.
