Sometimes we wander our shelves, filled with dreams and mild existential confusion, asking ourselves questions like, “What hath hell wrought?” and “Why hasn’t ANYONE bought this book on Lou Reed?” There is no accounting for taste. This statement is true in so many ways. Perhaps it is especially true in the turnover of a used bookshop, where the whims and desires of a town are expressed in what flies out the door (Ayn Rand) and what is left behind (sexy Lou Reed). So to help us resolve this wintry dull ache of literary abandonment, we’re sending out an email from the underworld highlighting some of the curiously ignored titles. WE thought these were great. Others did not. Maybe they fell behind the shelves? Maybe their covers were just a tad too ordinary. Maybe it just isn’t their time any more. But we love them. We love all of them.
Also, in good news, we are available now by appointment. Book yours with an email. You get the whole shop to yourself. We can chat or just sit silently and take in the quiet. Feel isolated IN A BOOKSTORE! PLAY WITH OUR DOGS! TELL US ALL YOUR SECRETS! That chunk of time is yours and yours alone. Also curbside is available again, although we did really enjoy driving all over the city these past months, weirdly seeing a van with a license place “GR8 POET”. Twice! So delivery is still available, if only to track that van down again.
Be well. Keep fighting the good fight. And do let us know if we can help lift the dreary February cloud if only a little bit.
With love,
Jason and Vanessa
