As some of you might have heard our window was recently busted by some brainiac driving around downtown with an air pistol. The result was a small break in the bottom of the glass that spidered overnight into a massive three-legged (can it spider when there’s only three legs) web of sorrow causing the whole thing to need replacing. Fortunately, it is Halloween season and we were able to mask it as some spooky window dressing, but in the meantime a beautiful soul began a GoFundMe to have it replaced.
18 hours later the funds were raised. It was shocking and humbling. We can think of many things to say, but to put it simply, this fundraiser inspired reactions in us that went well beyond our usual sensibilities of irony and parody. We are at a loss for words. Our utterances sound insincere and faint in reference to this grand gesture. You, friends, customers, neighbours, strangers, have beaten the irony out of us and laid bare our beating red hearts. There are people in this community that we love so much, that we would, at the drop of a hat, rally around and support…well, to think that any of you felt the same at the news of our broken window and broken hearts is honestly a goodness that is hard to bear.
So, with love, thank you. Sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you.
Much love,
and with ever so much gratitude,
Jason and Vanessa
