It’s December, and in the semi-post-is-it-over-yet-pandemic-thrill-kill-cult-diaspora, everyone is super busy. Social events abound! We thought we’d add more to your plate!!!!
This weekend is packed with events at the shop. We have Morris Dalla Costa, legend of local print media, who will be signing books from 4-6 pm in our shop, and then presenting a lecture with signing at a ticketed event Saturday night from 7-9 pm. This is all in celebration of his beautiful new book, Where Have You Been Bobby Marr?, which we have in stock.
On Sunday, you can come to the store between 1-4 pm with your ugly sweater, ugly children, ugly pets, and ugly selves to get your photo taken with the big man himself. Santa will be here, and your donations will go to Project Hope. Many thanks to Tail Feather Photography for organizing this fundraiser.
In the end, it’s all about the books. We’ve gotten some good stuff in, but we’ve been so busy tackling these last minute Donnelly book shipments (there’s a shortage city-wide and we are among the only places to have them in stock) and juggling the constant nagging of children who want this and that (V-Bucks! Give me V-Bucks!) that it’s been very difficult to get to cataloguing. Then there are the customers who ask,
“Have you read all these books?”
or “Do you own all these books?”
or “Whatcha reading for?”
or,
our favourite,
“Is this your dog?”
“What dog?” is, always, always, our reply.
Just kidding. We are very happy to be so busy again! Please, keep coming. Keep us distracted with your adoration and book-buying. It is our job, after all, to match the perfect readers with perfect books. To us, you are perfect, and we wish you a blissful final week of November.
Much love,
Jason and Vanessa
P.S. Black Friday sales are a tacky construction of corporate overlords, thus we shall not participate.
P.P.S. We promise not to come to your door like a creep and express our love to you.
