We made it!
What did we make it to exactly, we do not know. But we made it, and that’s all we need. We are starving people in the desert eating a cracker at this point. Just being able to say we made it through some arbitrary chapter of time is enough.
Our Christmas break was good. We hope yours was too. Well, GOOD, meaning that nothing happened. Blissful nothingness. A brief moment watching Cooper jump like a deer in the backyard snow is VERY vacation-like to us.
We came back into the shop on the 3rd to reduced capacity and a fifth wave. We bought better masks, put a “ring the doorbell” sign up on our door, and refilled the hand sanitizer bottle at the front. We stood, in the lowered-for-savings-over-the-holidays heat of our shop, seeing all the great books to catalogue, all the mess from the Christmas rush, and all the wildness of the past year, and felt good that bookshops are still around.
We are not going anywhere. And as a deep thank you for your support this past year, we’ve increased the discount for members to 20% across the board. This makes a difference. We have our own test accounts on the site and we peeked in after the discount was applied and man it looks A LOT better, those red little numbers of savings beside the ugly, unreasonable normal ones are pretty sweet.
So stay tuned and keep in touch. We’ve already started writing episodes of our podcast and the bookshop press is gathering manuscripts AS WE SPEAK. Beautiful things for smart people is what we promise, and with your support we will deliver that magic into the New Year.
