A new canine has joined us for the dog days of summer. While the kids are home from school, our dogs are mostly at home with their furless siblings, and this week we also have the privilege of taking care of our friend’s superpup Higgins. You most likely will not get to meet Higgins. He is not a shop dog. He’s been trained to give hugs to people, so everyone who walked in the door would have him pounce up on them. The hugs, when you get them, are pretty awesome though. This dog is charming. He looks like a chihuahua on stilts, with a short and soft tan coat, but has tiny floppy ears and is just a smidge taller than Snackers. He’s smart as a whip, comes when called, and is the most cuddly cuddler we’ve have ever seen. This is a guy who loves people.
We (sometimes) love people too, and we’re looking forward to the return of the students, the end of holidays, and more familiar faces coming in the door. You’ve all been galavanting around at beaches and concerts and family barbecues. We can’t blame you. We’ve been doing it too! Hasn’t it felt so good to get back out into the world? There’s been a taste of it here at the shop, with events like our successful Open Mic and our visit from Gary Barwin and Tom Prime. More is to come! We’d love to invite you to Ariana Fig’s concert Saturday night, but it’s SOLD OUT. No live music for you.
We do have an upcoming film screening that you are welcome to attend. Details are below.
In the meantime, please bring your puppers with you to the store. Snackers and Cooper are keeping their buddy happy at home and we crave the feeling of a dog in the shop! Please put a leash on your closest canine and drag them down to lick our faces and eat our dog treats. We’ve had up to five dogs in the shop at once and it was heaven. One just decided to sit behind the counter with Jason and help him work. His owner had to drag him out. Jason was sad. He stood at the window for a good, staring out into the street.
“Where is my friend?” he asked.
Cooper came up to him and patted his leg.
“She’s right here,” said Cooper.
Niagara Falls.
Much love,
Jason and Vanessa
