If you’re looking for something to do this Saturday night we’d like to suggest an event at our shop. The event is Antler Press Presents: Willow Switch, Brandyn Dunphy, SD Henhawke & Jason Dickson’s Demon Book. It is an event of dark folk music and readings. If you have not seen Willow Switch you must. They are among the best in town. If you haven’t read Jason’s Demon Book you can’t. It has sold out. The only remaining way is to steal a friend’s copy of come out to the shop this Saturday where he will be reading the book in full, complete with creepy folk music backing by Willow Switch. We boost this event because we are in it but also because the other three performers are exceptional. The weather is perfectly spooky now. Winter encroaches. So raise the dead with us this Saturday night, beginning at 7pm.
At the very least, come out to view the spectacle of Jason reading his poetry. Jason never reads much in public anymore. He’d rather promote the work of his friends. He says he is paying for the pretentious crimes of his youth, and there might be some truth to that (there is definitely truth to that — he was insufferable). But look, the young people ASKED HIM TO READ at their event, and you can’t express how much this meant to him. He’s becoming one of those lonely old men on a bench who saved a kid from a burning barn eons ago an no one remembers.
Jason DID ACTUALLY SAVE A GUY’S LIFE THE OTHER DAY.
He also writes poems. Really good poems, and if you haven’t heard them you should. They’re spooky, smart, and weirdly moving. Ghost poems should not be tugging at heart strings! But his do. He secretly wrote a book during the pandemic and got it published during the pandemic, and sold out during the pandemic, and it is really, really good.
So come support the guy. He will remove all curses from your life and offer better ones, THROUGH POETRY!
Much love,
Jason and Vanessa
