The Sound of Your Local Booksellers Conspiring

Can you hear it?

It’s the sound of your local booksellers conspiring. Change is afoot. They have made plans, devious plans, to undermine the dumbing down of society at large and the ongoing waves of idiotic pundits. They have found, they think, a secret nook for you, and they are busy like hibernating squirrels, hiding treasures, prepping their nest, and battening down the hatches for a long, cold winter.

The promise is spring. The promise is new growth. The promise is…

EXPANSION.

That’s right, dear members. We are drawing up the plans to open a second location for your shopping pleasure. This location will include free parking, wheelchair access, dogs, and quiet retreat. This will be a place to pick up your orders or stop in to browse antiquarian stock and new arrivals. No longer with you have to consort with plebeians and watch in consternation as they buy up piles of #booktok books and instagram poetry. No, not you, the truly smart, the fan of the truly beautiful books. We are building an oasis for you.

“Where is it? Tell us more?”

Muhahahaha! NO. This is our secret to reveal to you when the time is right. It will take us some time yet to set things up. We have to move bookshelves and boxes and set up desks. It wouldn’t be right to just invite you into the mess of take out wrappers and sweat stains and flabbergasted Jason trying to figure just what the hell Vanessa is trying to explain about mid-century modern furniture design.

Not only that, we much prefer teasing you and building anticipation until your socks are completely rocked off.

It’s a minor thing to ask, we think, that you sit and wait in anticipation. We can’t wait to share more. In the meantime, what we can say is that we have acquired a SCHOOL BUS. This school bus will be going through a transformation in the next few months, from RV capable skoolie, to full-on bookmobile. This means we will be able to travel with our beautiful books and find other smart people at festivals, pop-ups, markets, and more! Do you have a driveway in Wortley Village and would like to host a bookmobile on a sunny day in July? Let us know! We will be ready and willing to come and see you, and not just those of you in London. Perhaps you live in Dorchester, or Ailsa Craig, Strathroy, or even the Big Smoke itself. We are fully prepared to don our caps and journey down the road to find fame and fortune as troubadour book nerds.

That’s enough for now, but please know that, as Members, you are at the front of the line for all updates. Don’t worry. Your downtown oasis isn’t going anywhere. The shop will remain open. We’ve got your backs, and we look forward to blowing your minds as the weeks unfold.

Much love,
Jason and Vanessa
