We’re Likely to Deke Out with Little Regard for Order

We are so happy in our new location in Blackfriars!

Many of you have come to see us and sat in the little nooks we’ve made near bookshelves, lamps, and plants. Cooper and Snackers are totally in love with the space too. They jump up and greet every customer, and are so happy to safely join us each day on our trip to the shop. You should see them perk up from sleepiness on the sofa at home. “You want to go to the shop?” They jump up and down! They spin in circles! We walk through the muckiness of early spring in Blackfriars, and they indulge in smelling everything and then peeing on it. It’s doggie bliss.

Some of you have asked us about our hours. When we moved here, we thought we’d make our hours “By Appointment or by Chance” as Spafford Books has done in Regina. For now, let us tell you that we are generally here Tuesday – Saturday, and while we are generally here earlier and or later, you are most likely to find us about from 12 – 5. That being said, if we have a collection to see or a doctor’s appointment, we’re likely to deke out with little regard for order, so if you are really determined to see us Thursday at 2 pm, drop us a line. Please know that we deke to collections to keep our books fresh and exciting, but 99.9% of the time we will be in our new shop plugging away. We’re also having some challenges getting our phone line up and running, so email or social media is best for now.

Your patience and support is remarkable. We are so grateful for the ebb and flow of our literary congregation. When set up our cozy chairs and little fake fireplace, and when we position a potted plant just so, we really are thinking of you. Thank you for your patience with us as we find orders and make sense of our stock again. Part of us loves this kind of mess, as parading through a fresh night of dreams can reveal forgotten possibilities, but another part of us panics that life will never be organized again. We soldier on.

Here’s hoping we see your beautiful faces in the coming weeks. Snackers and Cooper miss you.

Much love,
Jason and Vanessa
