It’s reading week again! You know what that means. B&D’s 50% off Reading Week Sale! Everything in the shop is 50% off from today until Saturday, February 25th.
Now, this weekend is also Family Day, so that means we are taking some time with our family, the ones we spawned. As a result, our Blackfriars location will be closed until Tuesday, so you can order those books, secure those deals, but you won’t be able to pick up anything from that location until then. Sorry folks! Family first!
For those going downtown, make sure to say hi to Kevin and Morgan, whichever one you encounter, and remind them, “Hey you young punks! These books are half price! Don’t try any funny stuff. I want my deals and you can’t take them from me with your charming youthful wit and smiles.”
We don’t have a lot to say this week except that our sons got their report cards, and they both got some A’s. Too many A’s are also pretty “suss” as the kids say. We don’t want them conforming to the system too much. Instead, we foster a healthy subversive attitude in our home. Our new baby girl, Lenore, who is coming to join us this spring, is also already pretty sassy. She likes to kick her mom whenever she drinks orange juice, which is the latest craving.
This is turning out to be a pretty domestic email, so we’ll finish things off with a bit our own “youthful” verve. Saturday night you can check out an incredible party at the Children’s Museum called Winter Spectacular. This is not for kids. There will be plenty of beer, and loud music by a bunch of miscreants, and the crowd will be chock full of misanthropes with piercings and hipsters who prefer Patti Smith. Although, with these kids, who knows? They are always surprising us.
We have a friend celebrating his 50th birthday there (it’s not just for younguns, we middle-aged people know how to party too, heck, we invented it) so we might just pop in. If you’re free and not burdened by seven months of impending fetus, you should go too — just be prepared, this isn’t your usual sweet art event. This one’s got teeth.
And so, dear book fans, please enjoy the deals. It’s half-price all around. Clean up. Take those books home, tuck in, and wait excitedly for next week’s email which will probably be more whimsical.
Xoxo,
Vanessa & Jason
