And Some Brought Flowers: Plants in a New World by Mary Alice Downie and Mary Hamilton
From Ash to Wintergreen, Bittersweet to Wappatoo, the common Bedstraw and the uncommon Camas, the edible Fiddlehead Fern and the ubiquitous Dandelion, E. J. Revell has painted beautiful watercolors of these and 62 other plants found in North America. Plant illustrations and accompanying botanical descriptions and quotations are arranged alphabetically, in keeping with the old herbal tradition of plant identification. Plants were chosen for their pictorial value, with the intention that each watercolor should evoke a habitat and associations which match those of the quotations accompanying it.
