The Byronic landscape of Barrow Bay, Ontario
We just returned from paradise. Paradise in this case is an off-grid cabin on the Bruce Peninsula. The cabin is 14×14, has only solar and rain water, and sits within a sylvan forest on a gazilion year old rock. There’s no cell signal. We bathe in a lake. A raccoon visits us every night. There is a lynx bookseller who comes pulling a cart specializing in Nature and Philosophy. The lynx is named Harold. We love them.
We did take our bookbus up, which caused some stir at spots we visited. We sold a book to a lady on smoke break from a grocery store. We had interest from visitors to Grieg’s Caves (an Ontario marvel, Grieg’s Caves). We sold books to a motorcyclist on the side of the road (she bought philosophy). All in all, it was a lovely way to make a living.
But now we’re back. Not a day off, we’re getting right into it. Tonight we are at the Hamilton Art Crawl. Tomorrow it’s back to Variety Cafe in the morning and at night the Willow Lake RV Park in Woodstock (where we’ll see friends and might just stay the night, a bit tipsy). Sunday we’re back at the Pinery in Grand Bend.
And who knows? You might just spot us on the road from Here to There. We were spotted in Lion’s Head by a B&D friend this past week!
Much Love,
Jason and Vanessa
